The sessions

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) sessions can be either weekly or fortnightly. On average 12 sessions are required for a full course of CBT treatment.

CBT is a collaborative approach where client and therapist work together. We agree SMART treatment goals, very early on in the CBT treatment sessions.

We work towards achieving the goals. Sessions, goals and progress are reviewed on a regular basis.

As part of the CBT process clients need to do agreed assignments between the sessions. Early adulthood/childhood experiences may be discussed in order to make sense of the here-and-now but are not the primary focus.  As part of the CBT sessions, I provide all my clients with a wide range of skills and strategies enabling them to change their unhelpful thoughts and behaviours.
